Elidel and Protopic

Matthews & Associates - Elidel and Protopic

Since 2001, Elidel and Protopic have been on the market to treat eczema. These ointments are placed on the skin’s affected areas, sometimes for prolonged periods of times.

After obtaining approval to sell Elidel and Protopic, the drug manufacturers conducted several studies to determine the safety of these topical creams. As one study indicated, both creams led to an increased risk of skin cancer in the areas the drug was placed. This alarming study caused the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to issue a black box warning to be placed on the labels of Elidel and Protopic in March of 2005.

Despite this inherent risk in the drug, the drug manufacturers continue to market and sell Elidel and Protopic vigorously. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a type of skin cancer, including lymphoma and leukemia, and have used Elidel and/or Protopic in the past, please contact Matthews & Associates today.
